Many, many holiday brochures for cheap Cyprus hotels show pictures which look absolutely stunning - the views in Cyprus are incredible almost anywhere you stay - and feature an outside pool or terrace which seems incredibly classy. When you get there, the views are wonderful and the pool or terrace is charming, but the hotel turns out to offer very little else!! Is the Food Good? Although every hotel we feature on our site offers a very good standard of food for the price paid - and some are superlative value - many package holiday operators specialise in hotels where the food just isn't good at all!!!
The reason for this is obvious. Holiday travel companies need to make profits and cheap Cyprus hotels are very cheap!

Larnaca CyprusLarnaca Gateway to North Cyprusand South Cyprus Larnaca, or Larnaka, as it is spelt on Cyprus, is best known as the ..... When you travel independently, you can get great food, service, 4 star type outdoor facilities, and a basic but comfy room at a Greek Cypriot hotel on a dinner bed and breakfast basis for as little as £25 (UK) per day per person - and many hotels will throw in courtesy transport from the airport. In Northern Cyprus, it's even cheaper!
So, the tour operators can't charge you much more and still make big sales volume, which means that by the time they pay for their admin and overheads, they can't afford to pay the hotels much more than a UK£10 daily rate. The really good places won't accept that. They don't need to, as they've got plenty of repeat customers.

3 star 4 star and 5 star Hotels, Cypriot style!
The third grey area is the way the main travel operators rank cheap Cyprus hotels.
Most Cyprus 3 star hotels will have much more basic rooms and facilities standards than an equivalent good 3 star hotel in the UK or mainland Europe, or, for example, a Days Inn type of accommodations standard in North America. That doesn't mean you get a worse deal. Cypriot life is mainly outdoors, so the outdoor facilities in nice 3 star hotels in Cyprus are often better than those provided by good 4 star UK hotels.
So many tour operators, looking at the good stuff only, rank cheap Cyprus hotels as 4 star which definitely belong in the UK 2 star class as regards the rooms, but which have UK 4 star terraces. It's a different cultural perspective.

Lots of older, and hence cheap, hotels in North Cyprus are far more interesting places to stay in than the cookie-cutter luxury hotel chains. Mystery Shopper BIG Savings! On the same day, our Mystery Shopper asked 5 different online providers and 3 different UK travel agents to quote for a one week stay at a particular cheap Cyprus hotel, the Queens Bay in Paphos, which more than lived up to its reputation - a great value 3 Star buy with tons of extras!
The prices quoted, including a daytime flight from the UK to Paphos, all transport between the airport and the hotel, a large sea-facing room with terrace, breakfast and dinner, varied from £665 to £339 per person, exclusive of supplements (all prices in UK £).
When our Mystery Shopper selected the cheapest holiday provider, no supplements were required. But 6 of the other holiday travel operators were charging supplements varying from £15 to more than £60.
Find Great Accommodation in Cyprus then discovered that all the hotel package providers were offering the identical holiday, which had been put together by Thompsons. The Queens Bay Hotel was given a 4 TTTT rating by Thompsons and featured in their brochure at the 5th most expensive offer price for that holiday week.
It makes sense that some discount shops would offer a holiday at lower cost than the main travel packager, but what about the 2 'discounters' who were charging more? Definitely Ones to Avoid!
Whatever your pleasure, you'll Find Great Accommodation in Cyprus... ... at surprisingly low cost. Enjoy your stay.
